Spartan Mambo will be auditioning for a spot in Season 10 of America’s Got Talent! The auditions are being held on Saturday, February 7th at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Wish us luck!
Spartan Mambo had a great competition last week at the 2014 World Latin Dance Cup (see also the results for the 2015 World Latin Dance Cup).
In the Amateur Salsa Teams division we competed against 14 other teams and made it to the Semi-Finals, beating out teams from Japan, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
For the first time this year, we also competed in the Amateur Bachata Teams division and made it all the way to the Finals, with a respectable 4th place finish behind teams from Mexico, Australia, and Canada.
Thanks to everyone who helped support our journey! We will be working even harder in 2015 so that we can represent SJSU and the US at next year’s competition!
Spartan Mambo will be competing at the 5th Annual World Latin Dance Cup, which starts tomorrow in Miami. The World Latin Dance Cup (aka WLDC) is the largest salsa and Latin dance competition in the world, with over 800 dancers from 45 countries participating this year.
Last year Spartan Mambo won 1st place in the College Teams division. There is no college division this year, but we will be competing in the Amateur Salsa Teams and Amateur Bachata Teams divisions.
The Semi-Final round on Thursday and the Finals on Saturday will be streamed live worldwide via Ustream. We will post the link here and on Facebook as soon as we have it. Salsa By The Bay is also providing live coverage of the event, for the latest competition results and updates.
We hope you can catch the livestream and cheer us on, and we will do our best to represent San Jose State in this year’s competition!

Spartan Mambo will be performing this weekend at the 13th Annual SF Salsa Congress! This is the largest salsa event in the Bay Area, drawing 3,000 dancers from around the world, and is the big event we have been working towards all semester.
If you would like to watch the show, we will be performing during the Saturday afternoon show at 3pm. The competition team will also be competing in the World Salsa Challenge which is held on Sunday night starting at 7pm. Tickets will be available at the Oakland Marriott Convention Center. You can also watch the show streaming live at ClickStreamTV.

Spartan Mambo will be performing tonight at the annual Fire on the Fountain celebration. Fire on the Fountain is an event hosted by Associated Students in celebration of homecoming. There will be games, food, and other activities throughout the day on Tower Lawn, starting at around 4pm, culminating in a fire dance show and the crowning of the homecoming king & queen.
Spartan Mambo will be performing tonight around 6pm, so come by Tower Lawn to catch the performance and show your support!
We have the date for the Fall 2014 auditions for Spartan Mambo! The auditions this semester will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 10am at the aerobics room in the Event Center! We will go through a quick warm-up followed by some footwork and partnerwork choreography.
