Hot on the heels of last week’s victory at the Collegiate Salsa Open, Spartan Mambo was victorious again this weekend at the 8th Annual College Salsa Congress in Huntington Beach!

Spartan Mambo competed against 7 of the top college salsa teams from California in order to win the title. Spartan Mambo last won the competition back in 2011 and has placed numerous times in the past five years.

This win secures Spartan Mambo’s spot as the top college salsa team in California! Thank you everyone for your support!

Spartan Mambo has won the inaugural Collegiate Salsa Open held in Los Angeles this past weekend! The Collegiate Salsa Open is a salsa competition and social organized by and for college students. Spartan Mambo competed against a half-dozen other teams including USC, UCLA, and longtime rivals Cal State Northridge in order to clinch the title.

Spartan Mambo will be facing off against many of the same schools next week at the College Salsa Congress in Huntington Beach. Wish us luck, and follow us on Facebook in order to keep up with the latest team news!

Spartan Mambo will be competing this weekend at the 1st Annual Collegiate Salsa Open! The Collegiate Salsa Open is an inter-collegiate salsa dance social and competition bringing together dancers from over 20 colleges and universities across California. The Spartan Mambo competition team will be representing SJSU in the salsa team competition, so wish us luck!

Spartan Mambo placed 1st at the San Francisco Salsa Festival this past weekend in the Amateur Teams division, and has qualified to compete in the 2015 World Latin Dance Cup!

The World Latin Dance Cup (WLDC) is the largest salsa & Latin dance competition in the world, held every December in Miami. Spartan Mambo won the competition in 2013 in the College Division, and we’re looking forward to representing the school again at this year’s competition!

Spartan Mambo had a great time last weekend at the audition for season 10 of America’s Got Talent, held at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Look for on the season premiere of America’s Got Talent coming May 26th!

Spartan Mambo will be auditioning for a spot in Season 10 of America’s Got Talent! The auditions are being held on Saturday, February 7th at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Wish us luck!

Spartan Mambo had a great competition last week at the 2014 World Latin Dance Cup (see also the results for the 2015 World Latin Dance Cup).

In the Amateur Salsa Teams division we competed against 14 other teams and made it to the Semi-Finals, beating out teams from Japan, Colombia, and Costa Rica.

For the first time this year, we also competed in the Amateur Bachata Teams division and made it all the way to the Finals, with a respectable 4th place finish behind teams from Mexico, Australia, and Canada.

Thanks to everyone who helped support our journey! We will be working even harder in 2015 so that we can represent SJSU and the US at next year’s competition!

Spartan Mambo will be competing at the 5th Annual World Latin Dance Cup, which starts tomorrow in Miami. The World Latin Dance Cup (aka WLDC) is the largest salsa and Latin dance competition in the world, with over 800 dancers from 45 countries participating this year.

Last year Spartan Mambo won 1st place in the College Teams division. There is no college division this year, but we will be competing in the Amateur Salsa Teams and Amateur Bachata Teams divisions.

The Semi-Final round on Thursday and the Finals on Saturday will be streamed live worldwide via Ustream. We will post the link here and on Facebook as soon as we have it. Salsa By The Bay is also providing live coverage of the event, for the latest competition results and updates.

We hope you can catch the livestream and cheer us on, and we will do our best to represent San Jose State in this year’s competition!
