SJSU San Jose State Spartan Mambo

Want to learn how to salsa dance, make new friends, and perform on stage? Come join us on Tuesday, February 4th at 8pm for our Spring 2020 auditions!

We are looking for new students to join our salsa team, we especially need more guys!

The audition will consist of a quick warmup, followed by some beginner steps. No experience necessary.

Spartan Mambo Performing at 2019 SFSBK Congress This Weekend!

Our team is excited to be performing on two nights at the 2019 SFSBK (Salsa Bachata Kizomba) Congress!

Our performance team will be debuting a new 3-minute long salsa production on Friday evening of the event, and our Ladies Bachata team will be performing at the Congress on Saturday night.

A few of our dancers will be performing with other teams during the event as well, including our coach who will be performing on Sunday night.

Please come out and support us if you can, it’s going to be a great show!

Want to learn how to salsa dance, meet new friends, and perform? Come audition for SJSU’s very own salsa team, Spartan Mambo!

Auditions will be take place on Tuesday, September 10th at 8pm in the Multipurpose Room in the Event Center. No experience necessary!

We also have an informational meeting on Thursday, September 5th from 8-10pm at Room 3A in the Student Union, if you want to meet us in person and ask us any questions!

Spartan Mambo Performs & Competes at College Latin Dance Cup

SJSU Spartan Mambo performed and competed at the 2019 College Latin Dance Cup held at the Soho Dance LA studio in Los Angeles this past weekend.

The competition team took 3rd place in the competition, behind teams from Cal State Northridge and the University of Southern California. The performance team did a rendition of 2012’s championship winning routine, “O Mayi”, and also debuted a brand new ladie’s bachata routine directed by our dancer McKenna New.

Spartan Mambo Wins At SF Salsa Festival

SJSU Spartan Mambo SF Salsa Festival 2019

Spartan Mambo had a strong showing at the San Francisco Salsa Festival held this past weekend in San Francisco.

The team competed in 5 different divisions, and came away with three 1st place prizes (Amateur Soloist, Amateur Bachata Couple, Amateur Duo, one 2nd place (Amateur Salsa Team) and one 3rd place finish (Amateur Salsa Couple).

The team is now qualified to compete at the World Latin Dance Cup which will be held in Medellin, Colombia in December and we are excited with our strong start as we head into the competition season!

Our team had a great time at the San Luis Obispo Salsa Exchange hosted this past weekend by CPSalsa! It was a great opportunity for the team to bond and to network with other schools. One of our dancers (Jesus Barajas) also took 3rd place in the Jack & Jill competition at the event! It was an awesome event, and we are already looking forward to next year!
